This is the profile that generates the descent paths in Figure 9 (of the article, and as a web link at the right). You can generate similar paths by releasing the red point from various locations, after playing with the friction and weight settings on the control panel (click on the thin bar at the bottom of the simulation) to lessen the effect of momentum, and enabling the “point trails” feature.
